Perfect Peace

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.– Isaiah 26:3 (NIV)

I’m finding it more difficult to find perfect peace, when so much terror and catastrophes are happening around me. I have gotten riled up because of politics on Facebook, about people on the news being displaced from their homes and livelihoods, and terrorists roaming among us. I always have felt protected in the US, but it’s getting more difficult to bring my Christian values into sync with worrying about my family’s future. Are you left feeling confused, angry, and constantly riled up by others opinions? Will we ever feel peaceful  again?

Looking at this verse it shows us that we can find peace from God, not in our mind. We need to trust in His love and care. Our minds are whirling with all kinds confusion. However, peace is God’s response to us, when we look to Him. God’s presence is in all of our circumstances. I  know my mind is prone to project the worst circumstances that can happen. If our mind is steadfast on God we are confronted with the fact that God is in control. Renewing our minds with this reality brings trust, and that trust opens our hearts to peace. Only God knows where our lives are moving. Not being in controls is difficult for all of us. We cannot live in the past or fear the future. We need to reach for God’s comfort and protection, whenever our peace is disrupted.

Lord give us an internal and eternal peace in your loving care for us. These are hard and fearful times and we need be assured of peace through it all. Amen

Frazzled Society

Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.

Jesus-comforts_web-150x150When the primary elections began, I became as angry and distracted, as the rest of the country. The goings on with our elected and future officials was more than I could stand. The name calling, anger, and violence that was being stirred up was scary. My anger and frustration were building and making me speak and act in ways I didn’t like. My heart was broken for our country. I began praying for guidance because I was starting to live my life in fear. I began praying because God helped me through many problems before and returned me to a restful and peaceful place. As I prayed and decided to watch less TV news. I realized they definitely were disturbing my peace.

It’s unfortunate that we; the people of God are living in this frazzled pattern. Do you find yourself feeling out of control and not being careful of what you say and do? We are human as well as spiritual beings. Sometimes anger and frustration get the better of us and we lash out at the wrongs; especially when we are feeling trapped. Right now many of us are feeling we have no good choices and worry for the futures of our children and grandchildren. I know I do. This is why we need to get rid of our agendas and go to God. Can you go to God in anger, I can’t. Sometimes I have to start out by taking a deep breath and saying a quick prayer to calm myself. By envisioning Jesus’ heavenly arms of protection wrapped around me, (like in the picture) I am calmed. Try it your world will begin to become peaceful. (At least for the moment 🙂 The lord has been good to you before and he will be once again.

Lord wrap your arms around our county. Let us feel your peace, love and protection. Help us find the answers for peace in our nation. Help us to feel whole once again.
